Election of Trustees
SHNH is a registered charity, (charity no. 210355) run by voluntary trustees elected from the membership at our Annual General Meeting. If you are a member of SHNH and would like to stand as an elected trustee please download the Nomination Form here. You will need to supply the name and email address of a proposer and seconder who have agreed to support your nomination, both of whom should be fully paid-up personal members of SHNH. Nomination forms must be returned to the Secretary (secretary@shnh.org.uk) by the stated closing date. The form may be signed digitally.

The President is elected for a maximum period of three years. All other positions are also initially for three years but re-election is possible at the end of that term. The current Trustees and their roles can be located here.

Current vacancies on the SHNH Council
We are seeking a new applicant to fill a vacant Trustee role:
The most important requirement for a potential Trustees is to have a passion for natural history in all its diversity, and time to dedicate to the organisation. Do have a look at the role for more details. We are very friendly and we welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds.
All Trustee positions, subject to application and ratification at an AGM, are for three years, with a possible extension for a further term. They are voluntary posts, but expenses are covered when approved in advance. Trustees must be current members of SHNH and eligible to serve as a charity Trustee under the Charity Commission guidelines here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-essential-trustee-what-you-need-to-know-cc3. The Council meets three times a year, plus the AGM, and there is various work to be completed throughout the year.

We are able to accept new members of committee all year round, but the candidate would be subject to a vote of approval at the next available AGM, where, if successful, their role would officially begin. Should there be a choice of candidates, we will anonymise candidate information as
far as possible before presenting it to the members for a vote.
About SHNH – The Society for the History of Natural History
SHNH members are interested in the history and bibliography of all branches of natural history including: botany, general biology, geology, palaeontology, marine biology, mineralogy and zoology; the lives of naturalists, their publications, correspondence and collections; the institutions and societies to which they belong; and bibliographic studies of rare books, manuscripts and illustrative materials. Our journal, Archives of Natural History, welcomes articles on all these facets of natural history, including their cultural and social aspects, across all cultures.
