“Explore 500 years of world history” is on at the the Maughan Library, Kings College London
The exhibition, Explore 500 years of world history, runs from Tuesday 27 April to Saturday 31 July 2010. The exhibition takes place in the Weston Room, Maughan Library & Information Services Centre, Chancery Lane, London WC2A 1LR, and is open 09.30-17.00, Monday to Saturday.
The transfer to King’s in 2007 of the historical library collection of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) represents arguably the most important acquisition in the long history of the College’s library. This magnificent collection contains over 60,000 items, ranging in date of creation from the sixteenth to the twentieth century, deals with every corner of the globe and comprises not only books and periodicals but manuscripts, maps, photographs and newspaper cuttings. Many items have been annotated by earlier owners or users, reflecting their role as working tools over 500 years of world history.
